About This Product
ROCKWOOL Safe'n'Sound is an unfaced stone wool batt made for interior partitions in wood and steel stud construction where fire resistance and acoustic performance matter. The R-15 Rockwool 3 in. x 15-1/4 in. x 47 in. (59.7 sq. ft.) Soundproofing Stone Wool Insulation Batt is 3 in. thick by 15-1/4 in. wide by 47 in. long, sized to friction-fit between wood framing on 16 in. centers, and one bag covers 59.7 sq. ft. The dense stone wool absorbs sound rather than reflecting it, cutting noise transfer between rooms and floors, and because stone wool is non-combustible it works to contain a fire and slow its spread. Batts are pressed into the cavity by hand and hold themselves in place without staples or facing, and they cut cleanly with a serrated insulation knife to fit around doors, boxes and pipe. Typical applications are basement walls and ceilings, media rooms, home offices, laundry rooms, furnace rooms and bedrooms.
