FastenMaster ThruLOK Wood Screw 1/4 x 8 in. Hex Head Corrosion Resistant is a versatile structural fastener designed for wood-to-wood connections, serving as a replacement for carriage or through bolts. It is ideal for various applications, including laminated beams, girder trusses, and numerous situations where traditional carriage or through bolts are typically utilized. The ThruLOK screw features a hex head drive system and a uniquely crafted paddle point, enabling it to penetrate even the densest wood without causing splits. The galvanized washer aids in the even distribution of load, while the ThruLOK nut is equipped with specially designed teeth that allow it to grip the wood securely without requiring a wrench. For ThruLOK installation, detach the pre-assembled nut from the screw and drive the ThruLOK screw and washer into the outer face of the material until the screw is 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch shy of being flush. Next, screw the ThruLOK nut onto the exposed threaded portion of the fastener. Hand-tighten the nut until snug, then continue driving the screw until it is secure.
