Prior to the introduction of Dual Function Circuit Breakers, the only way to meet this code requirement was to use an AFCI circuit breaker in conjunction with a GFCI receptacle. The Dual Function Circuit Breaker integrates these two devices into a single solution that provides both cost efficiency and simplifies installation and maintenance. This is a beneficial solution for all involved. Regularly testing GFCI and AFCI devices each month is advisable, though it is often overlooked. It is recommended that AFCI/GFCI devices be tested every 30 days post-installation to confirm their proper functionality.
