The "U" design allows flexibility of placement on the header, accommodating nominal joist sizes of 2x6. Made from 14-gauge steel, it is galvanized (G90) for extra corrosion resistance. It is installed with 0.162-in x 3-1/2-in nails in the header and 0.148-in x 1-1/2-in nails in the joist.
